We knew Sonic the Hedgehog would never slow down, and 2021-2022 seems to be a busy year for Sega’s mascot. During its Sonic Central Stream, Sega announced the release of three new Sonic games, with two of the three games set to release in 2022.

Perhaps the most exciting part of this announcement was the demo of a new 3D Sonic game, which is one of the two games set for release next year. The announcement included a short video demo, but not much else is known at this time. It has been confirmed that the game will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Of course, if you don’t want to wait until next year, a remaster of Sonic Colors dubbed Sonic Colors: Ultimate will be released on September 7 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch. Check out the trailer below:

And last, but certainly not least, a compilation called Sonic Origins will be released next year. As of now, we know that the compilation will at least include Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD, but more may be coming in this upcoming title. The titles are rumored to be powered by Christian Whitehead’s Star Engine, formerly known as the Retro Engine. However, at this time this is only a rumor. We expect more details to come later this year.

Fans of Sonic the Hedgehog have much to look forward to beginning later this year and well into 2022.
